Graduate Teaching Assistant in Science

Teaching Personnel is in search of an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Graduate to support an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time role involves assisting educators and students within the Science department, providing a valuable opportunity for recent graduates aiming to gain practical experience in an educational environment.

Position Summary:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Science, you will be instrumental in enhancing the learning experience for students and aiding teachers in their instructional efforts. This role is particularly suited for individuals aspiring to pursue a career in education or educational research. Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Academic Assistance: Collaborating with Science educators to deliver engaging lessons. You will work with small groups or individual learners to reinforce essential concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Practical Support: Assisting students during hands-on Science lessons, which may include setting up experiments, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and helping students grasp the practical applications of their theoretical studies.
  • Tailored Learning: Supporting students requiring additional assistance, including those with special educational needs (SEN). You will help customize lessons and resources to cater to the diverse learning requirements of all students.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Offering academic mentorship to students, fostering their understanding and passion for Science. You will also provide support with study strategies and exam preparation.
  • Resource Development: Aiding teachers in the preparation of instructional materials, lesson plans, and other resources. This may involve creating visual aids, worksheets, or digital content to enrich the educational experience.
  • Classroom Engagement: Contributing to a positive classroom atmosphere by assisting in managing student behavior and ensuring that all learners remain focused and engaged.
  • Collaboration with Faculty: Working closely with the Science department and other educational staff to ensure that each student's academic needs are met. You will be a vital part of the school's academic support framework.

  • A degree in a Science-related discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).
