Job Opportunity: Graduate Teaching Assistant in Psychology

Teaching Personnel is on the lookout for a committed and passionate Graduate Teaching Assistant in Psychology to become part of a secondary educational institution rated as good by Ofsted. This full-time role is set to commence immediately and will last until the conclusion of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position based on performance. The remuneration for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 weekly.

Position Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Psychology, you will be instrumental in addressing the educational and emotional requirements of students. This role is particularly suited for psychology graduates seeking to acquire hands-on experience in an academic environment, especially those contemplating a future in educational psychology, teaching, or counseling.

Core Responsibilities:

Classroom Assistance:

  • Support educators in delivering captivating and effective lessons by offering individual and group assistance to students.
  • Help in the preparation of lesson materials and resources, ensuring they are well-organized and ready for implementation.
  • Assist in managing classroom behavior to foster a positive and productive learning atmosphere.

Student Engagement:

  • Collaborate closely with students who have special educational needs (SEN), providing customized support to facilitate their access to the curriculum.
  • Apply strategies to enhance students' emotional and social growth, utilizing your psychology expertise.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor students' progress towards their objectives.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the assessment and grading of students' work, delivering constructive feedback to bolster their learning.
  • Maintain precise records of student progress, behavior, and attendance.
  • Support the planning and execution of school events, excursions, and extracurricular activities.

Pastoral Care:

  • Provide individualized support and mentoring to students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with school counselors and other support personnel to address students' mental health and well-being.
  • Help cultivate a safe and inclusive school environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Collaboration and Professional Growth:

  • Work together with teachers, support staff, and school leaders to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Engage actively in the school community, promoting the institution's values and ethos.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, willing to respond to the evolving needs of the educational environment.
