Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school in Wilmslow. This full-time position involves supporting the academic and personal development of students, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting Learning: Assist teachers in the classroom by working with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning objectives, particularly in subjects where psychological concepts are applied.
  • Behavioral and Emotional Support: Utilize your understanding of psychological principles to support students with emotional or behavioral challenges, implementing strategies that promote positive behavior and emotional well-being.
  • Mentoring and Guidance: Provide one-on-one mentoring to students, helping them to overcome academic and personal challenges, and offering guidance and encouragement to help them build confidence and achieve their potential.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Work closely with the SEN department to support students with additional needs, assisting in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans that cater to each student's unique needs.
  • Research and Development: Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to student progress and well-being, contributing to the development of new strategies and interventions aimed at improving student outcomes.
  • Classroom Management: Help to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, supporting the teacher in managing student behavior and ensuring that all students are engaged and focused on their learning.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure that each student's needs are met, contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment.
Requirements
  • A degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • A strong interest in working with young people and supporting their development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with students who may display challenging behaviors.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school environment.
