Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is in search of a passionate and motivated Psychology Graduate to take on the role of Teaching Assistant in a secondary school recognized for its quality education. This full-time position offers an opportunity to engage with students and contribute to their academic journey.

Position Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in fostering both the educational and personal growth of students. This role is particularly suited for graduates aspiring to gain practical experience in an educational environment, especially those contemplating a career in teaching or educational psychology. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Facilitating Learning: Collaborating with educators in the classroom by assisting small groups or individual learners to reinforce educational goals, particularly in subjects where psychological principles are relevant, such as psychology, sociology, or health and social care.
  • Emotional and Behavioral Support: Applying your knowledge of psychological concepts to aid students facing emotional or behavioral difficulties. You will help implement strategies that encourage positive behavior and emotional health.
  • Mentorship and Support: Offering personalized mentoring to students, aiding them in overcoming academic and personal hurdles. Your role will involve providing guidance and motivation, helping students to enhance their self-esteem and reach their potential.
  • Support for Special Educational Needs (SEN): Collaborating with the SEN department to assist students with additional requirements. You will help in creating and executing tailored learning plans that address each student's specific needs.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Aiding in the gathering and evaluation of information related to student progress and well-being. You will contribute to the formulation of new strategies and interventions aimed at enhancing student outcomes.
  • Classroom Environment Management: Assisting in maintaining a constructive and engaging classroom atmosphere. You will support the educator in managing student behavior and ensuring that all learners are focused on their studies.
  • Collaboration with Educational Staff: Working closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other support personnel to ensure that each student's needs are adequately addressed. You will be a vital part of the school's support framework, contributing to an inclusive and nurturing educational environment.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in working with youth and fostering their development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students and staff.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to engaging with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
