Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Educational Support Role

Teaching Personnel is in search of a motivated and passionate Psychology Graduate to take on the role of Teaching Assistant in a secondary school recognized for its quality education. This full-time position is designed for individuals eager to gain practical experience in an educational environment, particularly those with aspirations in teaching or educational psychology.

Position Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in fostering both the academic and personal growth of students. This role is perfect for graduates aiming to enhance their skills in a supportive educational setting. Your duties will encompass:

  • Academic Support: Collaborating with educators in the classroom by assisting small groups or individual students to reinforce learning goals, especially in subjects where psychological principles are relevant, such as psychology, sociology, or health education.
  • Emotional and Behavioral Assistance: Applying your knowledge of psychological concepts to aid students facing emotional or behavioral difficulties. You will implement strategies that encourage positive behavior and emotional health.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Offering personalized mentoring to students, helping them navigate academic and personal obstacles. Your role will involve providing support and motivation, assisting students in building self-esteem and reaching their potential.
  • Support for Special Educational Needs (SEN): Collaborating with the SEN department to assist students with additional requirements. You will help create and execute tailored learning plans that address each student's specific needs.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Aiding in the gathering and evaluation of information related to student progress and well-being. You will contribute to the formulation of new strategies and interventions aimed at enhancing student outcomes.
  • Classroom Environment Management: Assisting in maintaining a constructive and engaging classroom atmosphere. You will support the teacher in managing student behavior and ensuring that all learners are actively participating in their education.
  • Collaboration with Educational Staff: Working closely with teachers, SEN Coordinators, and other support personnel to ensure that each student's requirements are met. You will be a vital part of the school's support network, contributing to an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in working with young individuals and facilitating their growth.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for building relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, understanding, and resilient demeanor when engaging with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • The capability to work effectively within a team and contribute positively to the school culture.
