Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and passionate Science Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school as a Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time position with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.
Key Responsibilities- Academic Support: Assist Science teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, working with small groups or individual students to reinforce key concepts in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Practical Assistance: Support students during practical Science lessons, setting up experiments, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and helping students understand the practical applications of their theoretical knowledge.
- Individualized Learning: Work with students who may require additional support, including those with special educational needs (SEN), tailoring lessons and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Mentoring and Guidance: Provide academic mentorship to students, helping them to develop their understanding and enthusiasm for Science, and offer support with study techniques and exam preparation.
- Resource Preparation: Assist teachers in preparing teaching materials, lesson plans, and other resources, creating visual aids, worksheets, or digital content to enhance the learning experience.
- Classroom Management: Contribute to a positive and productive classroom environment by helping to manage student behavior and ensuring that all students remain focused and engaged in their learning.
- Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with the Science department and other teaching staff to ensure that each student's educational needs are met, being an integral part of the school's academic support system.
- A degree in a Science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline).
- A strong interest in education and a desire to support young people in their academic and personal development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
