Role Overview:

As a Growth Strategy Specialist, you will assume a pivotal role in the organization’s ambitions to expand into new markets through institutional partnerships. This includes, but is not limited to, regions such as the Middle East (Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait), Canada, and Europe. This is a senior-level position that encompasses a range of intricate business development activities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate strategies for donor engagement and new market entry, along with corresponding implementation plans.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders both internally and externally, influencing as necessary to ensure that your team can capitalize on all available opportunities.
  • Establish, nurture, and oversee relationships with targeted donors in newly identified markets. Collaborate with team members responsible for income generation from Trusts and Foundations, corporate donors, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Conduct a thorough donor scoping and mapping exercise for prospective donors in targeted new markets. Regularly update this mapping document based on interactions with potential donors.
  • Identify and monitor relevant upcoming funding opportunities through proactive intelligence gathering, partner relationships, and other resources.
  • Provide oversight for grant management on a portfolio of grants funded by new market donors and serve as the primary point of contact for donor communications.

Candidate Profile:

To excel in this position, you will need:

  • A postgraduate degree in international development, sustainable livelihoods, humanitarian studies, program management, or a related field.
  • A solid understanding of the design, implementation, and evaluation of development programs.
  • Familiarity with overseas markets and/or a proven track record of successful fundraising in markets outside the UK, with a preference for experience with Middle Eastern donors.
  • Experience in effectively fundraising and engaging with institutional and international donors, particularly with a focus on Trusts and Foundations.
  • Exceptional technical skills in writing, editing, formatting, research, negotiation, and verbal communication.
  • Strong networking and influencing abilities, both internally and externally, including experience in fostering cultural change within an organization and gaining support from senior staff as needed.
