Role Overview:

As a Growth Strategy Specialist, you will assume a pivotal role in the organization’s objectives for expanding into new markets through institutional partnerships. This encompasses regions such as the Middle East (including Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait), Canada, and Europe. This senior technical position involves a variety of intricate business development tasks across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate strategies for donor engagement and new market entry, along with corresponding implementation plans.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure your team can capitalize on all available opportunities.
  • Establish, nurture, and manage relationships with targeted donors in newly identified markets. Collaborate with team members responsible for income generation from Trusts and Foundations, corporate donors, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Conduct a thorough donor scoping and mapping exercise for targeted new markets, continuously updating this document based on interactions with potential donors.
  • Identify and monitor relevant upcoming funding opportunities through proactive intelligence gathering, partner relations, and other resources.
  • Oversee grant management for a portfolio of grants funded by new market donors and serve as the primary contact for donor communications.

Candidate Profile:

To excel in this position, you will need:

  • A postgraduate degree in international development, sustainable livelihoods, humanitarianism, program management, or a related field.
  • A solid understanding of the design, implementation, and evaluation of development programs.
  • Familiarity with overseas markets and/or a proven track record of successful fundraising in markets outside the UK, with a preference for experience with Middle Eastern donors.
  • Experience in fundraising and managing relationships with institutional and international donors, particularly with Trusts and Foundations.
  • Exceptional technical skills in writing, editing, formatting, research, negotiation, and verbal communication.
  • Strong networking and influencing abilities, both internally and externally, with experience in facilitating cultural change within an organization and gaining support from senior staff.
