UK Compliance Leader for Payments and Lending

Amazon Payments UK Limited is seeking a highly experienced Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead our dedicated compliance team supporting Amazon's regulated payment and lending services in the UK.

As the CCO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring robust compliance frameworks are established and maintained for both Amazon Payments UK (APUK) and Amazon Capital Service Limited (ACS). This includes fostering strong relationships with internal teams, providing expert guidance on compliance matters, and serving as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of specialists to ensure Amazon adheres to all regulatory requirements within the payments and lending sectors.
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with internal teams, providing clear and concise guidance on compliance matters.
  • Produce comprehensive MLRO reports and deliver regular monthly updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide insightful challenge to executive leadership regarding financial crime prevention strategies.
  • Continuously enhance compliance oversight mechanisms to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Offer expert advice on policy interpretations and actively assist in resolving any identified breaches.
  • Conduct ongoing training programs for employees and manage all regulatory reporting requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding of payments and lending regulations, particularly within the UK market.
  • Proven experience in compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Fraud Risk Management frameworks.
  • Ability to conduct thorough compliance risk assessments and identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Experience in managing and motivating a team of compliance professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to drive results in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience collaborating with international teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in payments or e-commerce compliance, specifically within the UK financial services sector.
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent.
