Position: Associate Director of Ecology

Location: Flexible (Hybrid Role)

Salary: £50,000-£70,000

Talent Torch, a prominent and expanding environmental consultancy, is seeking an Associate Director of Ecology to enhance our leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the growth and management of our ecology division, reporting directly to the Director of Ecology, who spearheads our ecological and biodiversity initiatives across the nation.

This position is ideal for a dynamic leader who thrives on fostering team development and cultivating a positive workplace culture. You will guide your team’s professional journeys, promote a collaborative environment, and exemplify best practices in project planning and execution. As a key representative of the company, you will engage in business development by nurturing existing client relationships and exploring new opportunities while enhancing the team’s skill sets.

  • Fostering personal and team development.

  • Overseeing line management, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Managing client expectations and ensuring their needs are met or exceeded.
  • Providing technical insights for projects and proposals while identifying new client opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in ecology.
  • Preferred qualifications: MCIEEM / CEcol / CEnv.
  • Experience in leadership and management roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in client management and conflict resolution, with the ability to present at senior levels.
  • Excellent project management capabilities with a focus on timeliness and accuracy.
  • Strong report writing skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Solid commercial acumen.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and policies.
