Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Ecological Director to join our team at Locri Recruitment. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for leading the growth and delivery of ecological services in London and the South East.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in ecological consultancy, with significant leadership experience in the UK. You will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Contribution: Participate in the development and execution of team-wide strategies and resource planning.
  • Service Development: Lead the growth and delivery of ecological services in London and the South East, collaborating with senior team members for support.
  • Leadership: Work closely with the Ecology Leadership Team to inspire, motivate, and guide a team of dedicated ecologists and ornithologists.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Develop and implement operational and scientific best practices for ecological surveys, assessments, and team management.
  • Project Management: Oversee a diverse portfolio of ecological consultancy projects, ensuring effective resourcing, timely delivery, and financial performance.
  • External Representation: Act as an ambassador for the company at industry events and best practice forums.

The successful candidate will complement the existing ecology team, and will share their commitment to high-quality science to help grow and develop the business. Essential qualifications include:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • Significant leadership experience in ecological consultancy in the UK.
  • Proven track record in managing complex ecological consultancy projects.
  • Strong business development and work-winning skills.
  • Deep understanding of UK ecological survey and assessment methods, legislation, and the development planning process.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.

Desirable skills include:

  • Knowledge of English nature conservation legislation and policy.
