Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Rating who will report directly to the Master. This role is crucial for ensuring the upkeep and functionality of all machinery and electrical systems aboard the vessel while also fulfilling the responsibilities of a GP Rating.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the vessel's structure, machinery, and operational features.
  • Perform necessary inspections prior to departure on sea voyages, ensuring the vessel is fully prepared, considering factors such as stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity, along with adequate fuel reserves.
  • Notify the Master and Maintenance Superintendent of any equipment deficiencies.
  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to maintain a thorough understanding of the operational status and condition of all equipment.
  • Coordinate all transfers of fuel, lubricants, and fresh water.
  • Ensure the execution of all scheduled maintenance and both routine and emergency repair tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Superintendent to plan work that minimizes disruption to the vessel's operations while maximizing reliability and availability.
  • Implement measures to prevent environmental pollution.
  • Maintain accurate engine room records as required by the company and relevant authorities.
  • Provide and receive detailed handovers when joining or leaving the vessel.
  • Stay well-informed about company and shipboard regulations to perform duties safely and efficiently.
  • Be knowledgeable about all safety equipment onboard and actively participate in safety drills and training to uphold the highest operational standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Master.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of GP Rating and RIB Coxswain.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Mandatory:

  • ENG 1 certification.
  • Completion of Sea Survival Course.
  • Basic Fire Fighting training.

Preferred:

  • ATV AEC 1 & 2 certifications.
  • RSC AEC 1 certification.
  • Understanding of the technical operations of designated equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of operational processes.
  • Proficient command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Basic ICT skills, including Office and fleet management systems.
  • Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Elementary First Aid certification.
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification.
  • Completion of mandatory NINA training.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years residency in the UK.
  • Possession of a full driving license.
  • Valid passport.
