Reporting to the Master, we are seeking a Marine Technical Specialist responsible for the upkeep and repair of all machinery and electrical systems aboard the vessel while also fulfilling the duties of a GP Rating. More information on the vessel can be viewed at Marine Services - SMIT Neyland.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with the vessel's design, machinery, and operational characteristics.
  • Conduct necessary checks prior to departure on a sea passage, ensuring the vessel is fully prepared for the journey, considering factors such as stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity, and confirming adequate fuel reserves for the voyage.
  • Notify the Master and Maintenance Superintendent of any deficiencies.
  • Perform regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to maintain awareness of the condition and operational capability of all equipment at all times.
  • Coordinate all transfers of fuel, lubricating oil, and fresh water.
  • Ensure that all scheduled maintenance and both routine and emergency repair tasks are executed.
  • Work alongside the Maintenance Superintendent to plan all tasks to minimize disruption to the vessel's overall schedule and maximize reliability and availability of the equipment.
  • Implement all measures to prevent environmental pollution.
  • Maintain accurate engine room records as required by the Company and relevant authorities.
  • Provide and receive a thorough handover when joining or leaving the Company vessel.
  • Be well-versed in Company and Shipboard regulations and policies to perform functions efficiently and safely.
  • Be knowledgeable about all safety equipment onboard and actively participate in safety drills and training to uphold the highest operational standards of the vessel.
  • Perform any additional duties as reasonably requested by the Master.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of GP Rating and RIB Coxswain.

Essential Knowledge and Experience Required:

Mandatory:

  • ENG 1 certification.
  • Completion of Sea Survival Course.
  • Basic Fire Fighting training.

Preferred:

  • For ATV AEC 1 & 2 certifications.
  • For RSC AEC 1 certification.
  • Understanding of the technical operation of designated equipment installations.
  • Basic knowledge of operational processes.
  • Proficient command of English (both written and spoken).
  • Awareness of applicable Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Basic ICT skills, including Office and fleet management systems.
  • Formal qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Elementary First Aid certification.
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification.
  • Mandatory NINA training.

Other Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years residency in the UK.
  • Possession of a full driving license.
  • Valid passport.
