We are seeking a Marine Technical Specialist who will report directly to the Master. This role involves overseeing the upkeep and repair of all machinery and electrical systems aboard the vessel while fulfilling the responsibilities of a GP Rating.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of the vessel's structure, machinery, and operational features.
- Perform necessary inspections prior to departure, ensuring the vessel is fully prepared for the journey, considering factors such as stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity, as well as confirming adequate fuel reserves.
- Notify the Master and Maintenance Superintendent of any identified issues.
- Conduct routine evaluations of machinery and engine spaces to maintain an understanding of the condition and functionality of all equipment.
- Coordinate the transfer of fuel, lubricants, and fresh water.
- Ensure that all scheduled maintenance and both routine and emergency repairs are executed effectively.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Superintendent to plan work that minimizes disruption to the vessel's overall schedule while maximizing reliability and availability of the systems.
- Implement measures to prevent environmental pollution.
- Maintain accurate engine room records as mandated by the Company and relevant authorities.
- Provide and receive thorough handovers when transitioning on and off the vessel.
- Be well-versed in Company and Shipboard regulations to perform duties safely and efficiently.
- Familiarize oneself with all safety equipment onboard and actively participate in safety drills and training to uphold the highest operational standards.
- Execute any additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Master.
- Fulfill the duties of GP Rating and RIB Coxswain.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Mandatory:
- ENG 1 certification.
- Completion of Sea Survival Course.
- Basic Fire Fighting training.
Preferred:
- For ATV AEC 1 & 2 certifications.
- For RSC AEC 1 certification.
- Understanding of the technical operations of designated equipment.
- Basic knowledge of operational processes.
- Proficient command of English, both written and spoken.
- Awareness of Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Basic ICT skills in Office and fleet management systems.
- Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Elementary First Aid training.
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification.
- Completion of mandatory NINA training.
Other Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years residency in the UK.
- Possession of a full driving license.
- Valid passport.
