Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Rating to oversee the upkeep and repair of all machinery and electrical systems aboard our vessels. This role is crucial in ensuring operational efficiency and safety at sea.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the vessel's design, machinery, and operational capabilities.
  • Perform necessary inspections prior to departure, ensuring the vessel is fully prepared for the journey, considering stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity.
  • Notify the Master and Maintenance Superintendent of any equipment deficiencies.
  • Conduct routine evaluations of machinery and machinery spaces to maintain awareness of equipment condition and functionality.
  • Coordinate all transfers of fuel, lubricants, and fresh water.
  • Ensure all scheduled maintenance and both routine and emergency repairs are executed effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Superintendent to plan work with minimal disruption to the vessel's schedule while maximizing reliability and availability.
  • Implement measures to prevent environmental pollution.
  • Maintain accurate engine room records as mandated by the Company and relevant authorities.
  • Facilitate thorough handovers when joining or leaving the vessel.
  • Stay informed about Company and Shipboard regulations to perform duties safely and efficiently.
  • Be well-acquainted with all safety equipment onboard and actively participate in safety drills and training.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Master.
  • Fulfill duties of GP Rating and RIB Coxswain.

Essential Qualifications:

  • ENG 1 certification.
  • Completion of Sea Survival Course.
  • Basic Fire Fighting training.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • For ATV AEC 1 & 2.
  • For RSC AEC 1.
  • Understanding of the technical operations of designated equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of operational processes.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Basic ICT skills, including Office and fleet management systems.
  • Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Elementary First Aid certification.
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification.
  • Mandatory NINA training.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years residency in the UK.
  • Possession of a full driving license.
  • Valid passport.
