Role Overview

The Project Delivery Talent Pool is dedicated to providing skilled project professionals to our regional teams, ensuring the successful execution of various projects worldwide. This includes large-scale installations of our OSP solutions in partner facilities, as well as the introduction of new products and enhancements to existing systems.

As the Site Operations Manager, you will serve as Ocado's primary representative on-site, overseeing the implementation of Grid Structures and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) in our partners' automated facilities, including CFCs and Distribution Centres (DCs). Your role will involve meticulous planning and continuous improvement of installation processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation of grid structures and MHE in automated facilities, ensuring adherence to budget, quality standards, safety protocols, and timelines.
  • Lead and manage a diverse team of approximately 200 personnel on-site for extended periods, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
  • Directly manage team members across various disciplines, promoting professional development and setting clear objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for partner representatives and contractors, ensuring smooth communication and project alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a secure working environment on-site.
  • Develop and implement effective installation plans that consider buildability and accessibility.
  • Conduct quality checks and oversee the commissioning of MHE, ensuring high standards are met.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to MHE installations and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams to select appropriate installation contractors under suitable conditions.
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of our delivery methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing complex, high-value installations with a focus on project management methodologies.
  • Experience in Construction Site Management, overseeing large teams of contractors and personnel.
  • Background in mechanical installation of structural components or automated systems.
  • Familiarity with managing high-risk activities, including working at height and confined spaces.
  • Strong understanding of construction and engineering compliance and safety regulations.
  • Formal project management qualifications and a degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • National/local HSE competency for access to construction sites.
