Site Installation Supervisor | Hybrid Role

Role Overview

The Project Delivery Talent Pool is dedicated to supplying skilled project professionals to our regional teams, enabling the successful execution of diverse projects worldwide. This includes the large-scale deployment of our OSP solutions in partner facilities, the launch of new products, and modifications to existing setups.

As the Site Installation Supervisor, you will serve as Ocado's primary representative on-site, overseeing the implementation of Grid Structures and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) in automated facilities, including CFCs and Distribution Centres (DCs). Your role will involve meticulous planning of installation activities and enhancements to operational processes.

You will lead and manage installation contractors and internal teams, coordinating all activities on-site, liaising with the partner's general contractor, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and delivering installations that meet high-quality standards. Your expertise in engineering and contractor management will be pivotal in ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality benchmarks. You will engage with innovative technologies across various sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation of grid structures and MHE in automated facilities, ensuring compliance with cost, quality, safety, and scheduling requirements.
  • Lead and manage a diverse team of approximately 200 personnel on-site for the duration of the project.
  • Provide direct and indirect management of team members, fostering their development and setting clear objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Ocado team and partner representatives on-site.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by managing construction and installation activities effectively.
  • Develop and maintain an effective installation plan that considers accessibility and buildability.
  • Conduct quality checks on MHE installations, ensuring compliance with high standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with MHE installations, anticipating engineering challenges.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams to select appropriate installation contractors.
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of installation methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in managing complex installations with significant financial implications.
  • Experience in construction site management for large teams of contractors.
  • Background in mechanical installation of structural components or automation systems.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance in construction and engineering.
  • Formal project management qualifications and a degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
