About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Installation Manager to join our team at Ocado Group. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for leading the installation of our cutting-edge technology solutions in our partner's automated facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation Management: Manage the installation of allocated grid structures and mechanical handling equipment (MHE) in our automated facilities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Project Leadership: Provide leadership and management of project stakeholders, suppliers, and site personnel, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Team Management: Direct and indirect people management responsibilities, including day-to-day management of a team and various disciplines.
  • Site Management: Manage a construction/installation site, ensuring safety on site and effective installation planning.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality installation, commissioning, and fault-finding of MHE, meeting challenging budgets and schedules.
  • Risk Management: Identify, mitigate, and document MHE risks and anticipate engineering challenges.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with project stakeholders, including partner counterparts and their contractors.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in managing complex, multi-million-pound installations, including project management methods at this scale.
  • Construction Site Management: Experience in managing construction sites with a large group of contractors/personnel.
  • Technical Expertise: Relevant experience in mechanical installation of structural steel, pallet racking, and/or ASRS systems.
  • Automation Equipment: Experience in managing the installation and commissioning of automation equipment or conveyor systems.
  • Health and Safety: Strong understanding of national/local legislation for construction/engineering compliance and safety.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field (or equivalent experience).
