Role Overview

The Project Delivery Talent Pool is dedicated to providing skilled project professionals to our regional teams, facilitating a variety of projects worldwide. This includes the large-scale deployment of our OSP solutions in partner facilities, as well as the integration of new products and modifications to existing setups.

As the Site Installation Supervisor, you will take the lead on-site, overseeing the implementation of Grid Structures and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) at our partners' automated facilities, including CFCs and Distribution Centres (DCs). Your role will involve planning installation activities and enhancing our operational processes.

Your responsibilities will include managing installation contractors and internal teams, coordinating all on-site activities, representing Ocado with the partner's general contractor, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and delivering high-quality installations that meet our stringent standards. Your background in engineering and contractor management will be crucial in ensuring that installations are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be engaged with innovative solutions and technologies across our expanding network of sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation of grid structures and MHE in automated facilities, ensuring compliance with cost, quality, safety, and scheduling requirements.
  • Lead and manage project stakeholders and suppliers, maintaining a site presence for a large workforce over the duration of the project.
  • Directly manage a diverse team, fostering their development and setting clear objectives.
  • Act as the primary contact for partners and contractors on-site, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure safety and compliance on the construction site, implementing effective installation plans.
  • Conduct quality checks and manage the commissioning of MHE against challenging budgets and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and conduct health and safety risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams to select appropriate installation contractors.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with MHE installations, anticipating engineering challenges.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling multiple work packages and contractors on-site.
  • Resolve engineering issues by communicating technical details and seeking input from relevant engineering teams.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors and peers, contributing to best practices in project delivery.
  • Document lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement in our processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing complex installations with significant financial implications.
  • Experience in construction site management, overseeing large teams of contractors.
  • Familiarity with mechanical installation of structural components and automation systems.
  • Experience in managing high-risk activities and understanding safety legislation.
  • Strong project management skills, with a formal qualification in the field.
  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • HSE competency for access to construction sites.
