Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Healthcare Coordination Specialist to join our Clinical Haemoglobinopathy Service. This role is integral to supporting the transformation project for sickle cell disease management, focusing on enhancing the patient journey across the northeast region.

Role Purpose

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the administrative aspects of patient pathways, ensuring a seamless and effective service for individuals receiving treatment. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality administrative support.

Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Act as a primary liaison for patients, facilitating access to healthcare professionals, managing appointment inquiries, and addressing various patient needs.
  • Oversee clinic profiles to optimize capacity utilization, regularly assessing clinic performance and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the multidisciplinary team, including the integration of digital dictation and voice recognition technologies, ensuring quality control of documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to ensure prompt and efficient handling of all correspondence.
  • Perform typing duties for documents not generated through voice recognition and contribute to the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • GCSE A Level or equivalent educational background.
  • ECDL certification.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • AMSPAR or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Supervisory or office management qualifications.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience in medical secretarial roles or pathway administration.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in various IT applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong initiative and proactive approach to tasks.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and promote the service positively.
  • Capability to engage in personal development and learning activities.
  • Understanding of national patient pathway targets.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of NHS initiatives and the ability to implement them locally.
  • Experience in providing constructive feedback for service enhancement.
