Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced healthcare pathway coordinator to join our Clinical haemoglobinopathy service. This role is essential in supporting the transformation project for sickle cell disease management across the region. The position is part of a funded initiative aimed at enhancing comprehensive care pathways for individuals living with sickle cell disease, ensuring their needs are effectively addressed.

The primary objective of this role is to oversee the administrative processes associated with patient pathways, facilitating a seamless and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment journey. Additionally, the coordinator will play a vital role in delivering effective administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

The coordinator will be responsible for managing the administrative functions of patient pathways, ensuring a smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment. This includes:

  • Acting as a primary contact for patients, providing access to healthcare professionals, appointment information, and addressing various inquiries.
  • Overseeing clinic profiles to optimize capacity utilization, including regular monitoring and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Delivering a proficient secretarial and administrative service to the multidisciplinary team, including the implementation of digital dictation and quality assurance of documentation.
  • Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely and efficient handling of all correspondence.
  • Undertaking typing tasks for letters not generated through voice recognition and contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE A Level or equivalent standard of education.
  • ECDL certification.

Desirable Criteria

  • AMSPAR or equivalent qualification, demonstrating a good understanding of medical terminology.
  • Supervisory or office management skills equivalent to certificate level.

Experience

  • Experience in medical secretarial roles and/or pathway administration.

Knowledge

  • Proficiency in various IT applications, including Microsoft Office.

  • Familiarity with IT systems such as CRS, eRS, EMIS, and EPR.
