About the Role

Laindon Medical Group is seeking a seasoned practice manager to oversee our operations on a full-time basis, dedicating hours per week across five days.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Overall accountability for the daily management of the practice.
  • Leading primary care services to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations while maintaining financial health.
  • Providing effective leadership grounded in comprehensive knowledge of business management, finance, planning, and human resources, including recruitment.
  • Driving innovation and modernization within the practice.
  • Meeting reporting obligations to the partnership and adhering to local and national KPIs and contracts.
  • Coordinating and directing the operational delivery of services, engaging with staff, patients, and local commissioners.
  • Presenting and analyzing data to monitor quality metrics.
  • Representing the practice at local meetings and reporting back to partners.
  • Effectively managing all personnel.
  • Developing strong partnerships with other organizations to enhance practice operations.
  • Ensuring security, repairs, insurance, and maintenance of premises, services, and equipment.
  • Guaranteeing compliance with all aspects of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Managing financial aspects including income, expenditure, and accounts, as well as preparing financial reports for partners.
  • Implementing and maintaining systems as directed by the partners.
  • Overseeing patient inquiries and suggestions, including management of the practice-based complaints procedure.
  • Updating the practice's information materials and website.
  • Managing practice publicity and health education resources.
  • Involvement in managing the computer systems, including organization of maintenance and developments.
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Preparing business plans and annual reports as directed by the partners.

About the Candidate

We are looking for an experienced practice manager ready for a new challenge. Ideal candidates should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification in business management or equivalent experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment legislation and experience managing a diverse workforce.
  • Strong skills in HR, premises management, IT, and complaint resolution.
  • Prior leadership and personnel management experience, preferably in a healthcare context.
  • Experience in financial management.
  • Ability to articulate a vision and adapt to NHS targets and business planning while staying informed of legislative and contractual changes.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Capability to develop, implement, and embed policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Experience in dynamic environments, with the ability to manage regular changes.
  • Excellent organizational, management, planning, IT, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing change effectively.
  • Aptitude for identifying training and development needs in oneself and others, along with experience in staff appraisal.

We provide care for 18,500 adults and children across West Basildon and beyond. Our clinical team consists of 4 GP partners and 5 GPs, working alongside advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, social prescribers, care coordinators, and our in-house pharmacy team.
