ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the General Counsel will be instrumental in guiding Alter Domus through legal challenges and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. This position entails offering comprehensive in-house legal guidance on various matters, including corporate governance, intellectual property, employment law, and litigation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume primary responsibility for all legal functions across the organization, ensuring adherence to legal standards.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to the Supervisory Board and the Audit and Risk Committee, particularly concerning M&A, corporate events, and litigation.
  • Manage relationships with external legal advisors for business and commercial matters, excluding employment law.
  • Mentor and develop senior in-house legal professionals, guiding them on their journey to becoming General Counsel.
  • Collaborate with the Alter Domus Academy to create compliance training programs, ensuring all employees understand their legal obligations.
  • As a senior leader, drive organizational change, delivering clear communications to enhance employee engagement.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and risk management to mitigate financial and reputational risks.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Alter Domus brand, promoting our values and Employer Value Proposition.
  • Maintain a strong focus on budget discipline and accountability.
  • Ensure the organization upholds the highest standards of Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) practices.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess over 20 years of experience as a General Counsel or Senior Partner in a law firm, ideally seeking a strategic role as part of a portfolio career. A fully qualified and licensed attorney, you should have:
  • A proven history of providing legal counsel on commercial transactions, including M&A and IPO processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of listing regulations and governance for publicly traded companies.
  • Experience working with founder-led or private equity-backed firms in rapid growth phases.
  • A global perspective and intellectual curiosity, enabling effective collaboration across regions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and navigate complex legal landscapes.
  • Decisiveness and persuasive abilities to engage with C-level executives and high-profile clients.
  • Comfort in operating at all organizational levels with political sensitivity.
  • A commitment to integrity and ethical practices.
