Role Overview

This position is ideal for individuals with an engineering background—whether electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or a combination—who are eager to advance their careers in the rail industry. Comprehensive rail-specific training will be provided to the successful candidate. A company vehicle and fuel card will be supplied. Candidates should possess a keen attention to detail, the ability to work independently or collaboratively, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Some travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities

As an OTM Driver/Fitter/Operator, you will:

  • Safely fit, operate, and maintain on-track machines (OTM) in accordance with established competency standards and safety protocols.
  • Receive full training on all operational aspects of OTMs.
  • Report any service faults and failures promptly to the Rail Plant Control Desk.
  • Engage in weekend, holiday, and night shifts as part of the work schedule, with some overnight travel.
Essential Qualifications
  • Proficient in computer and communication skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Flexible, reliable, and punctual.
  • Possess a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Hold a clean, valid driving license for company vehicle operation.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional pride.
  • Be prepared to work shifts, including weekends and nights.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork capabilities.
