Health & Safety Specialist - Rail Grinding

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Specialist to join our Rail Grinding team based at Rugby Depot. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our workforce while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of occupational health and safety (OHS) for Rail Grinding operations, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and company policies.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the team by implementing initiatives that prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Engage with employees and contractors to raise awareness of health, safety, and well-being best practices, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Monitor OHS performance, conduct inspections, and investigate incidents thoroughly to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on various OHS topics to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to discuss OHS matters and share best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of OHS data, reports, and audits to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in developing and implementing OHS strategies and initiatives, particularly those focused on health and well-being.
Qualifications & Experience
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in OHS management within the infrastructure or construction industry.
  • Competency in conducting fatigue, health, and capability assessments.
  • Experience with behavioral-based safety and well-being techniques.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sentinel qualification.
