Position Overview

The role involves various responsibilities that will be elaborated during the interview process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely check-in and check-out as directed by the duty manager or senior production manager.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as provided.
  • Maintain effective communication, both verbal and written, with the Rail Plant Control Room and Help Desk.
  • Adhere to safety and operational standards.
  • Absorb and retain knowledge from training sessions.
  • Execute emergency protocols as necessary.

OTM Operations

  • Comprehensive training will be provided for the operation of OTM machinery.
  • Responsible for identifying and, if feasible, rectifying service faults and failures.
  • Promptly report all service faults and failures in both written and verbal formats to the Rail Plant Control Desk.
  • Operate on-track machinery in compliance with railway standards.
  • Conduct maintenance checks and assist specialized fitter personnel during machine repairs.

Fitting Responsibilities

  • Support specialized fitter staff in performing maintenance tasks.
  • Immediately report machine faults and failures verbally to the Rugby Rail Plant Control Desk.
  • Complete all maintenance duties as outlined in the Maintenance Fitter Assessment Scheme.

Candidate Profile

  • Proficient in computer and phone skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exhibit flexibility, honesty, and punctuality.
  • Possess a certification in Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Hold a clean, full, and valid driving license for company vehicle operation.
  • Show willingness to engage in ongoing learning and training.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional pride.
  • Able to work during weekends and night shifts.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Exhibit good knowledge of computer and phone skills.
