Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for various operational and maintenance tasks associated with OTM machinery, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Log on and off duty as directed by the duty manager or senior production manager.
  • Utilize provided personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain effective communication, both verbal and written, with the Rail Plant Control Room and Help Desk.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and operational standards.
  • Absorb and retain knowledge from training sessions.
  • Execute emergency procedures as necessary.

OTM Operations

  • Comprehensive training will be provided for OTM operations.
  • Address and repair service faults and failures whenever possible.
  • Immediately report all service faults and failures to the Rail Plant Control Desk, both verbally and in writing.
  • Operate track machinery in accordance with railway standards.
  • Conduct maintenance and safety checks, assisting specialist fitter staff during machine breakdowns.

Fitting Responsibilities

  • Support specialist fitter staff in all maintenance tasks.
  • Promptly report machine faults and failures to the Rugby Rail Plant Control Desk.
  • Complete all maintenance duties as outlined in the Maintenance Fitter Assessment Scheme.

Candidate Profile

  • Proficient in computer and phone skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exhibit flexibility, honesty, and punctuality.
  • Possess a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Hold a clean, full, and valid driving license for company vehicle operation.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing learning and training.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional pride.
  • Able to work weekends and night shifts as required.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
