About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Shift Technician to join our team at Ardagh Metal Packaging. As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment to ensure the smooth and continuous running of the production line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate can manufacturing equipment to achieve plant KPI targets
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that meets quality standards and minimizes downtime
  • Perform quality checks and take corrective actions as needed
  • Maximize production and minimize spoilage during the manufacturing process
  • Perform safe repairs to equipment as required
  • Set up checks after maintenance work
  • Report potential problems to the Shift Manager or relevant Department Heads
  • Maintain housekeeping to an exemplary standard and in a safe condition throughout the plant
  • Comply with legal, environmental, and safety requirements and checks
  • Use ancillary equipment, such as fork trucks, to perform production line or other duties
  • Promote quality improvement and preventative actions through continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure safe systems of working and means of avoiding hazardous conditions
  • Perform clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties as required
  • Recondition HFI pallets and re-sample HFI pallets
  • Maintain quality standards as required by the company
  • Maintain production requirements of the Plant and minimize spoilage
  • Communicate effectively with management and fellow workers
  • Work safely at all times and report unsafe acts or conditions to the supervisor immediately
  • Cooperate with environmental, health & Safety legislation and the company's environmental, health & Safety management systems and standards
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English
  • A recognized Time Served Apprenticeship
  • ONC/HNC Qualification or equivalent
  • English written and verbal skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practices
  • Experience of preventative and planned maintenance on production equipment
  • Experience of working on production machinery
  • Experience of repairing spare parts for production machinery
  • Ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail
  • Team player with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly
  • Basic knowledge of quality and hygiene systems
  • Enthusiastic and proactive approach
  • Maintains technical knowledge through training courses
  • Flexibility or willingness to travel to other locations
