ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the General Counsel will be instrumental in guiding Alter Domus through intricate legal landscapes, ensuring that informed legal decisions align with our ambitious growth strategies. The responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing all legal operations within the Group, guaranteeing compliance with applicable laws.
  • Offering strategic legal counsel to the Supervisory Board and the Audit and Risk Committee, focusing on legal and risk considerations that support commercial objectives, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate events, and litigation.
  • Managing relationships with external legal advisors for business and commercial matters, excluding employment law.
  • Mentoring and developing senior in-house legal professionals on their journey towards becoming General Counsel.
  • Collaborating with the Alter Domus Academy to create compliance training that educates employees on their legal and compliance obligations.
  • Leading change initiatives as a senior leader, ensuring effective communication and direction to enhance employee engagement.
  • Promoting a culture of compliance and risk management to mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Alter Domus brand, fostering internal and external relationships that embody our values and Employer Value Proposition.
  • Maintaining strict oversight on cost management and budgetary discipline.
  • Upholding the highest standards of Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) practices.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess over 20 years of experience as a General Counsel or Senior Partner in a law firm, seeking a strategic role in their career. Key qualifications include:
  • A robust track record in providing legal counsel on commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and capital raising.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal and governance requirements for listed companies.
  • Experience with founder-led or private equity-backed firms on a growth trajectory.
  • A global perspective and intellectual curiosity, facilitating effective collaboration across regions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust swiftly.
  • Decisiveness and persuasive communication skills to engage with C-level executives.
  • Comfort in navigating complex environments with political sensitivity.
  • A strong commitment to integrity and ethical standards.

KEY STAKEHOLDERS

The General Counsel will interact with:
  • Supervisory Board, Group Executive Board, and Regional Executives.
  • Regional Leaders, Directors, and Managers.
  • Internal Legal Team.
  • External Law Firms.
