Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a fixed-term position in the field of Pediatric Psychology, specifically focusing on Chronic Pain and Rheumatology. This role is situated within a dynamic and inclusive Pediatric Psychology service.

We seek a dedicated psychologist who is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families facing intricate health challenges that may lead to psychological distress. The ideal candidate will also collaborate effectively with professional peers to ensure comprehensive and high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage with the Chronic Pain and Rheumatology teams, taking a pivotal role in shaping and delivering psychological support for young patients. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert consultation and support to the multidisciplinary team and broader network.
  • Collaborating closely with the Consultant Psychologist, offering guidance and supervision to junior team members.
  • Participating in team meetings to discuss clinical challenges and share insights across various services.
  • Engaging in audit, research, and training opportunities to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Doctoral-level qualification in clinical psychology, accredited by the relevant professional body.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Essential Experience

  • A minimum of four years of post-qualification experience in specialized psychological assessment and treatment.
  • Expertise in managing psychological aspects of chronic and acute health conditions.

Skills and Competencies

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in supervising and managing junior clinical psychologists.
  • Advanced skills in at least one psychological therapy model.
  • Ability to conduct complex psychological assessments and interventions.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities within a multidisciplinary environment.
