Position Overview

The Senior Clinical Psychologist will become a vital member of a forward-thinking team during a transformative phase of service delivery. This role involves contributing to a groundbreaking family-centered initiative aimed at supporting families impacted by sibling sexual misconduct. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of this service, integrating insights from innovative practices and engaging in continuous assessment and research efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and/or forensic environments, demonstrating exceptional therapeutic capabilities and adaptability in working with youth. Prior experience in therapeutic interventions for children who have faced sexual abuse is highly valued.

The selected individual will be seconded to a partner organization under a formal agreement, receiving daily oversight and clinical guidance from a senior clinical psychologist. Additionally, the post-holder will benefit from professional development opportunities and peer support within the broader psychological services framework.

Service delivery will primarily occur in designated areas, ensuring a focus on community needs.

Key Responsibilities

The National Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service (NCATS) represents a national initiative addressing harmful sexual behaviors. The incumbent will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising psychologists, family therapists, and social workers to conduct assessments and deliver interventions to children and their families facing significant concerns regarding sexual behaviors. The clientele often includes individuals with neurodiverse backgrounds and complex systemic needs, stemming from adverse early life experiences. The role also encompasses providing training and consultation to both internal and external professionals within the broader network.

Within the NCATS framework, the post-holder will also offer clinical supervision as necessary to support the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Doctoral-level training in Clinical Psychology or equivalent, with current registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Proven experience in specialized mental health assessment and treatment across various care settings.
