In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of therapists and support staff from various disciplines, focusing on assessment and rehabilitation. This multifaceted position allows for the enhancement of clinical expertise in stroke care.

We seek a Physiotherapist with substantial experience in evaluating and treating stroke patients to join our nurturing multidisciplinary team. A strong commitment to patient care, exceptional communication abilities, adaptability, effective time management, and organizational skills are crucial for success in this position. Additionally, the ability to travel is necessary, thus car ownership is required.

You will benefit from ongoing support through performance reviews, supervision, team discussions, and access to in-house training opportunities.

Main Responsibilities

To deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service to patients within the specialized area.

To function as an accountable and independent practitioner, managing your own caseload.

To collaborate with Pathway and Team leaders in the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service on a daily basis.

To provide support and clinical supervision to less experienced physiotherapy staff and students.

To assume the responsibilities of Team leaders when necessary.

To maintain accurate records of patient interactions through written documentation and electronic data management.

To participate in out-of-hours services as required.

To ensure ongoing professional competency.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

To obtain informed consent from each patient prior to assessment and treatment, adhering to Trust policies on consent.

To conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for individual patients, including those with complex presentations, utilizing clinical examination, observation, and manual assessment techniques.

To apply advanced clinical reasoning to establish a diagnosis and set rehabilitation goals.

To develop and implement individualized physiotherapy treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and treatment options.

To assess patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.

To create discharge plans and recommend appropriate interventions.

To make informed clinical decisions regarding discharge planning and referrals.

Communication Skills

To effectively communicate clinical diagnoses and treatment plans to patients and their families.

To engage with patients, relatives, and colleagues to maximize rehabilitation potential through various communication methods.

To maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in line with professional standards and legal requirements.

Educational Responsibilities

To participate in personal and professional development programs to meet competency requirements.

To maintain and enhance specialist knowledge through continuous professional development activities.

To contribute to the training and supervision of less experienced staff and students.

Management and Professional Duties

To organize and prioritize your caseload effectively.

To mentor and support less experienced staff.

To ensure compliance with Trust policies and professional standards.

To contribute to the continuous improvement of the physiotherapy service.

To uphold high standards of practice and professionalism.

To address minor complaints in accordance with Trust policy.

To be aware of and implement health and safety policies.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
  • Membership with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate training
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in relevant specialisms

Desirable

  • Experience in clinical education and supervision
  • Involvement in clinical audit or research
