Position Overview

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) serves as Scotland's premier awarding and accreditation organization. We are entrusted with the oversight of numerous qualifications available in educational institutions and workplaces, both domestically and internationally.

Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned professional to take on the role of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Manager within our IT Planning, Governance & Compliance team. This newly established position offers a unique opportunity for an expert in business continuity and disaster recovery to shape the role according to their expertise.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and monitoring of compliance regarding all IT business continuity and disaster recovery policies and procedures across the directorate. Key responsibilities include:
  • Implementing business continuity and disaster recovery strategies tailored to the organization's specific needs and best practices.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, and ITIL.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure regular testing and exercises are conducted to assess the effectiveness of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and providing recommendations for enhancements.
  • Communicating effectively and strategically with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and understanding.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a minimum of SCQF Level 8 education or equivalent, along with demonstrated experience in a technical role within a business continuity and disaster recovery context. Candidates should also embody the values of SQA, which include being Trusted, Progressive, and Enabling, to foster a productive and positive workplace culture.
