Position Overview

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is the national body responsible for awarding and accrediting qualifications in Scotland. We oversee a multitude of qualifications that are recognized in educational institutions and workplaces both domestically and internationally.

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Manager within our IT Planning, Governance & Compliance team. This position presents a unique opportunity for an expert in business continuity and disaster recovery to shape the role according to their expertise.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be tasked with the following:
  • Developing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with all IT business continuity and disaster recovery policies and procedures across the directorate.
  • Implementing business continuity and disaster recovery strategies that align with the organization's specific needs and adhere to industry best practices.
  • Familiarizing oneself with relevant industry standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, and ITIL.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to conduct regular testing and exercises to assess the effectiveness of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and proposing enhancements to existing processes.
  • Communicating effectively and strategically with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a minimum of SCQF Level 8 education or equivalent experience in a technical role within a business continuity and disaster recovery context. Candidates should also exemplify the values of SQA: Trust, Progressiveness, and Enablement, fostering a positive and productive work culture.
