Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Wilmslow

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and passionate Science Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Wilmslow as a Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time position starting in October and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role is between £419.25 and £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting both students and teachers within the Science department. This position is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting, especially those considering a future career in teaching or educational research. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Academic Support: Assisting Science teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons. You will work with small groups or individual students to reinforce key concepts in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

  • Practical Assistance: Supporting students during practical Science lessons. This may involve setting up experiments, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and helping students understand the practical applications of their theoretical knowledge.

  • Individualized Learning: Working with students who may require additional support, including those with special educational needs (SEN). You will help tailor lessons and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.

  • Mentoring and Guidance: Providing academic mentorship to students, helping them to develop their understanding and enthusiasm for Science. You will also offer support with study techniques and exam preparation.

  • Resource Preparation: Assisting teachers in preparing teaching materials, lesson plans, and other resources. This may include creating visual aids, worksheets, or digital content to enhance the learning experience.

  • Classroom Management: Contributing to a positive and productive classroom environment by helping to manage student behavior and ensuring that all students remain focused and engaged in their learning.

  • Collaboration with Staff: Working closely with the Science department and other teaching staff to ensure that each student's educational needs are met. You will be an integral part of the school's academic support system.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a Science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline).
  • A strong interest in education and a desire to support young people in their academic and personal development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
