About the Role:

The ADAS Commodity Owner is a critical position within our team, responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) components. This includes the physical ADAS component, comprising a sensor and ECU, as well as the overall software release contained within that component.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Component Ownership: Define and maintain design guideline documents and hardpoints, ensuring correct packaging and integration of the component into vehicle programs. This includes both mechanical and electrical requirements of the component, as well as ensuring vision requirements for any sensor elements are achieved.
  • Component Planning: Plan component parts required (both type and numbers of) to support different build phases of vehicles, from prototype and development vehicles through to production.
  • BOM Management: Maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) for both hardware and software elements of the commodity.
  • Software Alignment: Work with suppliers and system developers to understand the timing plan for software releases, ensuring alignment with key software integration milestones and communicating these within the business.
  • Volume Build Planning: Plan for volume build of the commodity, considering whether components are delivered pre-flashed with software or are updated internally.
  • Production Requirements: Define production requirements associated with the commodity, including any end-of-line calibration routines and other processes needed. Ensure these are trialled, and any issues resolved ahead of volume production.
  • Issue Resolution: Be the first point-of-contact for production issues relating to the commodity in build. Where these are physical installation or component issues, work to find a resolution. Where build issues relate to software behavior, direct system developers and suppliers to understand root cause and find a solution.
  • Process Improvement: Support continuous process improvements and mentor more junior members of the ADAS/AD Hardware team.
  • Interfacing: Internally interface with all members of ADAS and wider SW&ET engineering, purchasing, logistics, quality, design, and manufacturing teams. Externally interface and manage key hardware technology partners.
