Key Responsibilities:
  • Essential Skills - Expertise in Door Finishing, Moving Glass, and Sealing.
  • Ensure all design solutions comply with: Bill of Design (Bod) and Bill of Process (BoP) requirements, programme targets for cost and weight, legal regulations, and requirements management & design verification documentation.
  • Timely completion of Preliminary Engineering Sign off (PEC) and Final Engineering Sign off.
  • Deliver Commodity PSW in accordance with programme timelines.
  • Manage problem resolution using established problem definition techniques and the Automated Issue Management system (AIMS) to achieve resolution in line with programme metrics.
  • Supplier management.
  • Maintain an Agile mindset.
  • Deliver the commodity plan ensuring quality, cost, and time objectives are met, including the maintenance of the Worldwide Engineering Release System (through PACN/iCreate or directly).
  • Oversee and deliver Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables.
  • Manage Change Requests, expenditure forecasting, and relevant supplier teams to support programme milestone delivery.
  • Oversee design verification test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off, and assist Engineering test teams with issue rectification.
  • Contribute to new feature development.
  • Ensure all design solutions meet: programme targets for cost and weight, legal regulations, and requirements management & design verification documentation.
  • Keep all module documentation current, including: meeting minutes, foundation and programme design analysis documents, quality history, bill of design, RMDV commodity plan, and EBER.
  • Perform any additional tasks as directed by the line manager related to the role.
  • Lead & collaborate with CAD Engineers (cross-functional).
  • Engage with external suppliers.
  • Coordinate with the design team.
  • Work with Vehicle Package, Pilot Plant, and Production Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Collaborate with Module Leaders, Product Owners, and Agile teams on specific programmes.
  • Engage with Group Leaders, Senior Buyers, Supplier Technical Assurance, Marketing, Finance, Material Planning & Logistics, Attribute Teams (PAT Leaders), Test Engineers, Plant launch teams, and Product coaches.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in leading the resolution of business, technical, and process issues within a project team environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition, and change management processes.
  • Familiarity with automotive closure systems, glass, plastics, rubbers, composites, or BIW.
  • Ability to create D sections and D geometry using Catia V/V/TCE/Digibuck.
  • Knowledge of GD&T application.
  • Understanding of gauge design.
  • Experience with kinematic systems.
  • Valid driving license.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Systems Engineering knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage effectively.
  • Previous experience in automotive engineering or test planning departments.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics.
  • Understanding of kinematics.
  • Familiarity with AVA.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
