Principal Research Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Scientist to join our dynamic Medicinal Chemistry team at Bicycle Therapeutics. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and synthesizing novel Bicycles and conjugates to deliver clinical candidates.
Key Responsibilities- Project Leadership: Manage chemistry activities within project teams, including the design of bioactive Bicycle peptides to a set Target Product Profile.
- Collaboration and Communication: Serve on internal project teams, communicate effectively with project team members and colleagues, and work well with others to meet experimental and organizational goals.
- Research and Development: Present research results effectively in oral or written form to line managers, project team members, and management-level meetings.
- External Partnerships: Manage chemistry at external contract research organizations (CROs), including maintaining relationships, developing chemistry plans, project tracking, data and compound management, critical evaluation of results, and analytical data analysis.
- Intellectual Property: Prepare reports and contribute to drafting and reviewing patent filings.
- Publication: Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
- Innovation: Introduce and develop new innovations that expand the company's platform.
- Experience: Relevant industry or academic experience in contemporary medicinal/peptide chemistry and in the design and synthesis of bioactive peptides and conjugates in preclinical drug discovery programs.
- Skills: Experience in structure-based drug design, computational modeling, and data analysis software to interpret SAR data.
- Desirable: Experience in developing drug conjugates or radiopharmaceuticals, managing external resources, and project leadership.
- Personal Qualities: Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, flexibly, and reliably, prioritizing accordingly to company objectives.
- Team Player: Collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment, comfortable sharing knowledge with the wider company team and, as appropriate, reporting work to the scientific or industry community.
