We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry to join our dynamic team at Bicycle Therapeutics. As a key member of our Medicinal Chemistry team, you will be responsible for designing and synthesizing novel Bicycles and conjugates to develop lead candidates for our oncology pipeline.
In this role, you will work closely with our scientific team to progress our pipeline and manage external resources to deliver on synthetic and analytical tasks. You will have a strong background in modern synthetic organic / medicinal chemistry and experience in the application of structure-based design, non-natural amino acids, linkers, and conjugation chemistries.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting chemistry activities within a project team, including the design of bioactive Bicycle peptides to a set Target Product Profile
- Serving on internal project teams, communicating with project team members and colleagues effectively, and working well with others to meet experimental and organizational goals
- Presenting research results effectively in oral or written form to line managers, project team members, and management-level meetings
- Coordinating chemistry at external contract research organizations (CROs), including maintaining relationships, developing chemistry plans, project tracking, data and compound management, evaluation of results, and analytical data analysis
- Preparing reports and contributing to drafting patent filings and journal manuscripts
- Supporting the development of new innovations that expand the company platform
Qualifications:
- Relevant industry or academic experience in contemporary medicinal chemistry and in the design and synthesis of bioactive peptides and conjugates in preclinical drug discovery programs
- Experience in interpreting SAR data desirable (activity, selectivity, DMPK characteristics, physical properties, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in managing external (CRO, CMO) resources to accomplish project tasks
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently, flexibly, and reliably, prioritizing accordingly to the company objectives
- Team player who collaborates and communicates effectively in a team environment, comfortable sharing knowledge with the wider company team and, as appropriate, reporting work to the scientific or industry community
- Innovative, entrepreneurial, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
