Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner to join our team at the Health and Safety Executive. As a key member of our HSW team, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering our health, safety and wellbeing changes across Divisions within HSE.

Job Description

As an HSW Business Partner, you will be responsible for supporting and influencing HSE divisions in building an excellent health, safety and wellbeing culture. This will involve working closely with senior leaders, HSW team colleagues, HR Business Partners, HSW committees, HSE divisions, support functions and stakeholders to achieve HSW cultural excellence in their area.

You will use your leadership skills to:

  • Influence, coach and support senior leadership teams to achieve HSW cultural excellence in their area.
  • Influence thinking and actions on HSW culture at divisional and organisational level.
  • Lead groups to identify and implement improvements to HSW policy and procedures and culture.
  • Represent the HSW team and HSE at internal and external meetings and events.
  • Build and maintain effective HSW support networks.

This role will involve occasional travel to other HSE sites for team meetings and may involve some overnight stays.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Experience of advising on key risks at team/divisional and organisational level and making recommendations on improvements, controls and mitigation through coaching and mentoring leaders, peers and colleagues.
  • Experience of evaluating legal compliance to advise and inform teams/divisions and influence HSW decision making at organisational level.
  • Experience of analysing data to identify trends and risks and making recommendations for improvement, mitigation or control.
  • Experience of owning elements of a HSW management system and maintaining the associated policy, process and procedures.
  • Experience of providing a channel for two-way communication between teams/divisions and the wider organisation on all HSW matters including the delivery of HSW presentations, updates and management information reporting.
Qualifications

We require a recognised HSW qualification at Level 5 or above (or be currently working towards prior to undertaking this appointment and completing it within the first 12 months of this appointment).

Memberships

We also require a Chartered Member of IOSH (or completion within 12 months of appointment or attainment of the Level 5 HSW qualification).
