Position Overview

We are seeking a diligent, detail-oriented, and motivated Patient Admissions Coordinator who can provide essential administrative support to both clinical and operational teams.

The core responsibility of this position involves the daily management of patient waiting lists, while also being adaptable to assist all team members with varying workloads, additional responsibilities, and flexible working hours.

Key Responsibilities

You will be tasked with adhering to all established protocols and procedures to facilitate the admission of patients for surgical procedures. This includes coordinating admission schedules with patients and healthcare professionals within performance targets, ensuring precise documentation of patient information in the hospital's patient administration system, and preparing all necessary paperwork.

The Ophthalmology department operates at a high capacity, so the ability to perform under pressure while delivering outstanding patient care is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficient keyboard abilities, are required.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English at grade C or above.
  • Strong administrative capabilities.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in a secretarial or administrative role.
  • Familiarity with hospital patient administration systems and knowledge of waiting list management and Trust access policies.
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality.

Desirable

  • Experience in a hospital environment.
