Oncology Pathway Coordinator

Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to become a vital part of our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you equipped with exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for precision, and the determination to excel in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating compassion for patients potentially facing a cancer diagnosis?

Following the recent merger of Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, we are excited to expand our team of Multidisciplinary Team Coordinators (MDTCs) at our Colchester location.

If you possess the dedication and expertise required for this role, we would be eager to connect with you.

Important Note: This position may close earlier than anticipated if a significant number of applications are received.

Key Responsibilities

The role of an Oncology Pathway Coordinator serves as an excellent entry point towards becoming a fully qualified Band 4 MDT Coordinator, with internal growth opportunities available for the right candidate.

Each MDTC is tasked with monitoring the journey of patients who have been urgently referred to the hospital to exclude the possibility of cancer.

It is crucial that all patients referred under a 2-week wait (suspicion of cancer) pathway have their treatment journey meticulously tracked on a daily basis to ensure they receive a diagnosis within 28 days, and if diagnosed with cancer, their treatment within 31 days of that diagnosis.

The Oncology Pathway Coordinator is responsible for reviewing patient progress by utilizing either the Somerset Cancer Registry or Infoflex, navigating through various hospital diagnostic systems, updating all clinical teams with the latest information, and ensuring that all data is prepared for the weekly MDT meetings, while promptly escalating any delays to the operational teams.

About Our Organization

We are East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, providing comprehensive hospital and community health services to nearly one million individuals across the region. Our dedicated workforce delivers care from acute hospitals, community hospitals, clinics, and directly in patients' homes.

As the largest NHS organization in East Anglia, we employ over 12,000 staff members.

We take pride in nurturing our employees, offering a wide array of training and development opportunities, along with flexible working arrangements.

In addition to supporting your professional aspirations, we provide a generous pension scheme, additional payments for unsocial hours (where applicable), 27 days of annual leave upon commencement (pro rata), and access to various NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing program offers a range of services to support our team.

Our guiding principle is that Time Matters to everyone. Throughout the Trust, we focus on enhancing our processes and eliminating those that cause delays for both our staff and patients.

We are committed to improving our services through a partnership with a leading electronic patient record (EPR) provider, which will significantly enhance the experience for both staff and patients.

If you are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and eager to expand your skills and knowledge, we would be delighted to hear from you.
