Ward Administration Coordinator

Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is proud to operate one of the most significant elective orthopaedic facilities in Europe, dedicated to providing high-volume, low-complexity surgical care for our community.

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will contribute to the seamless operation of the ward by managing essential administrative tasks efficiently and effectively, collaborating closely with medical professionals, nursing staff, and healthcare support personnel. You may also assist at the reception area of the Centre as needed.

We seek an individual who can work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and thrive in a collaborative environment. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with patients and visitors, both in person and via telephone.

Ward Administration Coordinators serve as the initial point of contact for patients and visitors, and it is crucial that you embody the Trust's core values to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Work Schedule

The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with shifts ranging from early morning starts to evening finishes.

Facility Overview

The Dame Clare Marx Building, housing our elective orthopaedic centre, is designed to focus on elective surgeries and day cases, featuring eight advanced laminar flow operating theatres, three dedicated wards, recovery areas, and comprehensive support services including radiology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the efficient operation of the ward by alleviating nursing staff of routine clerical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Become proficient with the Hospital's Computer Systems.
  • Welcome new patients and their accompanying family members, addressing initial inquiries until the Ward Sister or Nurse-in-Charge is available.
  • Maintain the Ward Clerk diary and admissions log.

Our Staff Health and Wellbeing program provides a range of services to support your well-being.
