Senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Birkenhead, Wirral, United Kingdom Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint two Senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to enhance our Wirral CYPMHS Team. The successful candidates will be integral members of the 0-18 partnership team.

In 2022, our children and young people's care group undertook a comprehensive redesign of community CAMHS services, aimed at increasing workforce flexibility and improving patient flow. This redesign introduced a new care model that distinguishes Access components from Partnership work, with the Thrive model serving as a guiding framework.

Our newly structured teams are organized into four locality-based services, ensuring a comprehensive approach to mental health care for children and young people. The Wirral service encompasses a wide range of offerings, including an access team, a dedicated 0-18 team, an eating disorder team, a learning disability and autism assessment team, an intensive support function, and a 24-hour crisis support team. Our trust boasts a robust network of consultant child psychiatry professionals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical psychiatric input to the 0-18 Team.
  • Accurately document clinical activities within the Electronic Patient Record.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and provide professional guidance to junior medical staff, in accordance with the Trust's personnel policies.
  • Ensure compliance of junior medical staff with the New Deal and Working Time Directive.
  • Engage in service and business planning activities for the locality and the broader mental health service.
  • Participate in annual appraisals for consultants.
  • Contribute to the Trust's academic program, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD initiative.
  • Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and adhere to professional codes of conduct.
  • Engage in annual job plan reviews with the clinical manager to adapt to changes in service delivery.
