Senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Birkenhead, Wirral, United Kingdom Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint two Senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to enhance our Wirral CYPMHS Team. The successful candidates will be integral members of the 0-18 partnership team.

In 2022, our children and young people's care group undertook a comprehensive redesign of community CAMHS services, aimed at increasing workforce flexibility and improving patient flow. This redesign introduced a new care model that distinguishes Access components from Partnership work, with the Thrive model serving as a guiding framework.

Our newly structured teams are now organized into four locality-based services: Wirral, West Cheshire, Central Cheshire, and East Cheshire, with Central Cheshire operating from two locations.

The Wirral children and young people's mental health service provides a wide range of offerings, including an access team, a 0-18 team, an eating disorder team, a learning disability and autism ADHD assessment team, an intensive support function, mental health support teams, and an urgent support team with a 24-hour crisis line. Our trust boasts a robust network of consultant child psychiatry colleagues.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical psychiatric expertise to the 0-18 Team.
  • Accurately document clinical activities within the Electronic Patient Record.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and provide professional guidance to junior medical staff in accordance with trust policies.
  • Ensure compliance of junior medical staff with the New Deal and Working Time Directive.
  • Engage in service and business planning for the locality and the broader mental health service.
  • Participate in annual appraisals for consultants.
  • Contribute to the academic program of the Trust, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD program.
  • Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and adhere to professional codes of conduct.
  • Engage in annual job plan reviews with the clinical manager to adapt to service changes.
