Job Overview:

The HR Specialist will possess substantial experience in handling HR Casework and must be prepared to manage a diverse caseload that may encompass matters such as absenteeism, grievances, and disciplinary actions. This role requires the ability to provide guidance on organizational policies and compliance with relevant regulations. The Specialist will offer advisory support to management and engage effectively with employees and Trade Unions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver expert advice, guidance, and support to managers, headteachers, and governors on a broad spectrum of employment-related matters.

2. Develop options, track progress, and propose solutions for various casework, including but not limited to recruitment, performance management, investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and interpretation of employment terms.

3. Collaborate closely with managers, headteachers, and governors to address significant business and personnel-related challenges by proposing and evaluating innovative solutions that align with business needs while adhering to policy, employment law, and statutory regulations.

4. Assist and advise service managers in navigating investigations and disciplinary matters to safeguard the interests of the organization and ensure fairness and due process.

5. Support Senior HR Advisors and other management in conducting employee relations consultations and collective bargaining with employees and representatives from trade unions or professional bodies.

6. Encourage a re-evaluation of existing practices and influence local service managers on people management issues while respecting corporate policies and the organization's operational framework.

7. Participate in HR and Organizational Development policy and project initiatives as required, collaborating with colleagues from both HR and other services across the organization. Ensure policies are updated in accordance with legislative changes and best practices.

8. Contribute to service-led projects and business initiatives from a people management perspective, potentially leading employment-focused workstreams.

9. Guide managers in the effective deployment of personnel, promoting best practices in people management, and supporting them in their managerial responsibilities.

10. Address discriminatory practices and behaviors, taking necessary actions to ensure compliance with the organization's equality and diversity standards.

11. Actively promote and facilitate succession planning and talent development at the local service level, including providing coaching and mentoring support.

12. Uphold and advocate for the principles of the organization's equality, diversity, and inclusion policies, as well as health, safety, and well-being for oneself and others. This includes challenging discrimination and promoting equal opportunities for all.

Essential Experience Required:

- Extensive experience in an Employee Relations operational HR role within a large organization with a diverse workforce.

- Proven track record in managing and advising on complex cases, including but not limited to absenteeism, disciplinary actions, grievances, and equality issues, as well as supporting hearings and appeals as necessary.

- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and recognized best practices in HR.

- Ability to communicate effectively on complex issues at all levels in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing. Relevant degree or professional qualification or equivalent experience.

- Self-motivated, independent, and capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
