Position Overview:

We are seeking a versatile Operations professional to oversee daily activities in both Import/Export and Customer Service sectors. This role is crucial for our operations in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records for all import and export activities.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external clients to manage documentation.
  • Coordinate freight bookings and handle vendor payments.
  • Engage in customer service activities and communicate effectively with prospective clients.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers.
  • Manage filing and reporting tasks.
  • Oversee import and export operations across various transportation modes including ocean, road, and air.
  • Ensure compliance with customs procedures and documentation.
  • Follow up on nominated shipments and manage booking procedures with carriers.

Daily Operations:

  • Handle pre-advisory and pre-alert communications for imports and exports.
  • Confirm arrivals and generate export bills of lading.
  • Prepare and manage invoices, including demurrage and storage considerations.
  • Coordinate delivery and pickup arrangements.
  • Transfer files to brokerage as necessary.
  • Ensure effective communication of information and instructions between vendors, both domestic and international.
  • Trace shipments through transit points to the final destination, providing updates as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and possess an ECDL Core Certificate.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and preferably another language.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Transport, Logistics, or Accounting.
  • Experience in the Freight Forwarding sector, particularly in Import & Export operations.
