An exciting opportunity has emerged for an International Trade Compliance Specialist to join the team at Morson Talent.

Role Overview

The International Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of export and import operations, ensuring adherence to both UK and international trade regulations, while facilitating the efficient movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities


• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to export and import activities.


• Maintain compliance with UK and international export and import regulations.


• Oversee the UK Export licensing process, utilizing the appropriate portals and collaborating with local authorities.


• Engage with government agencies and internal stakeholders to advance the business's export and import objectives, including compliance with EU and US regulations.


• Lead preparations for and conduct Import & Export audits.


• Manage all UK Import processes through relevant portals, coordinating with local authorities to ensure timely importation of goods.


• Oversee the lifecycle of Hardware in both Export and Import processes.


• Ensure compliance with Technology transfer regulations.


• Uphold ethical standards on behalf of the organization.


• Provide expert guidance on Export Licensing and Imports, collaborating with internal and external agencies to ensure compliance.


• Prepare and maintain all necessary export licenses, invoices, documentation packages, and advice notes.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will cultivate and manage effective relationships across the organization and with clients, demonstrating the ability to lead cross-functional project teams. The successful applicant will exhibit maturity and credibility when interacting with customers, senior management, and stakeholders. We expect the following skills and qualifications:

• Proficient in working within established compliance frameworks.

• Proficient in IT applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).

Knowledge Requirements:


• A minimum of 8 years' experience in a compliance officer role related to export and import controls.


• In-depth knowledge of UK Export Control & Licensing regulations.


• Familiarity with UK and International Export and Import systems (SPIER and others).


• Understanding of non-UK Export Controls, particularly those of the EU and US, including ITAR & EAR.


• Proven experience in export and import shipping operations, including coordination with freight forwarders and customs.
