We are expanding rapidly due to our success and are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to be a part of our innovative team, focusing on the design and advancement of state-of-the-art hydropower and pumped storage hydro technologies. This position offers flexibility in location across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be instrumental in all phases of hydropower projects, from initial feasibility assessments and conceptual design through to construction and commissioning. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading the electrical engineering design for hydropower projects, which encompasses generators, control systems, instrumentation, protection mechanisms, substations, and transmission lines.
  • Conducting design, modeling, and analysis of electrical and electronic systems to ensure project viability and adherence to industry standards.
  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers while collaborating with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive project designs.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET. Experience with large rotating machinery, such as generators or motors, is essential. While specific experience in hydro or pumped storage systems is highly desirable, experience in other sectors within the Energy and Water industries will also be beneficial.

You should be proficient in producing and interpreting design documentation, including single line diagrams, key line diagrams, block cable diagrams, load schedules, specifications, and reports. Familiarity with collaborative design reviews and solution development is expected.

Strong communication skills are crucial for delivering technical presentations to clients and participating in collaborative design discussions, including technical workshops.
