The Role

As part of our expanding operations, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our innovative team, focusing on the design and advancement of state-of-the-art hydropower and pumped storage hydro technologies.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with a talented team of mechanical and electrical engineers, working alongside our multi-disciplinary experts. Your responsibilities will include the design, development, and testing support of mechanical systems for hydropower and pumped storage hydro projects, focusing on components such as turbines, pumps, generators, and control systems.

Your project responsibilities will encompass various roles, including advisory services, client-facing concept design, contractor-focused detailed design, troubleshooting, installation support, and due diligence assistance.

You will engage with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners, and other stakeholders to foster positive project outcomes and community benefits. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and guiding less experienced team members.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will hold Chartered or Incorporated status with the IMechE, with specific experience in the mechanical design of hydro and/or pumped storage systems being essential. Experience in other sectors, particularly within Energy and Water, is advantageous.

You should be proficient in producing technical specifications, conducting power and energy calculations, and preparing schedules and reports, with familiarity in collaborative design reviews.

Strong communication skills are necessary for delivering technical presentations to clients and participating in collaborative design discussions, including technical workshops.

Comfort in a full 3D environment using relevant tools for modeling and review is expected, along with a willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally.
